Our Story

Lace & Favour began as a cottage industry making wedding favours for family and friends. Over the past 21 years, what began as a pastime has grown beyond my wildest dreams.... here’s a snapshot of how it all began to where we are today.

Early Years

Early Years

2002
The concept of a one stop shop for all things bridal was confirmed when I married my long term partner In March 2002. I trawled many shops to find a veil, shoes, accessories and bridesmaid dresses. And so Lace & Favour was born, and a year of exciting product sourcing followed.

2003
The World Wide Web was a new and exciting place to be and we bought our Lace and Favour domain names .co.uk and .com.

2004
A strong brand identity came free, courtesy of a dear friend who also designed and built our first website. This was also a year of much photography.

2005
We produced our first brochure to further showcase our beautiful product range. This was a hit locally and with brides and venues. An exhibition stand followed and we were always a major attraction at Wedding Fairs.

Local Promotions

2006
A further Tiara brochure was produced featuring two collections. A catalogue full of beautiful handmade crystal and pearl designs for the bride, and floral headbands and combs for bridesmaids and flower girls.

2007
After a year of intense local promotion, advertising and Wedding Fairs, the concept of a one stop shop for bridal accessories had been well and truly proven. The web had moved on and we began work on our first add to basket web site.

2008
With demand growing, we increased our product range to include veils and a small range of wedding jewellery. The web site eventually went live, but with many frustrations and limitations along the way.

2009
Lace & Favour was getting noticed and we placed our first ads in national and local wedding magazines. This had a massive impact on our brand awareness and online sales, and gave credibility to our growing brand.

Our First Retail Shop

Our First Retail Shop

2010
This was a year of consolidation, and much growth. We added more and more new product lines and suppliers were now approaching us to be part of our portfolio. The business gained a new momentum, and brides were recommending our brand.

2011
A leap of faith into bridesmaid and flower girl dresses paid off, and we soon increased the range. Online sales were surprising, but many customers also wanted somewhere to try them on.

2012
With added momentum, the concept of a one stop shop for head to toe bridal accessories had something missing - shoes.
With some reticence, we ordered eight pairs to trial. We could never imagine what was to follow.

2013
We opened our first retail shop local to home, and were pleasantly surprised. Awareness grew through word of mouth and the we received positive feedback from our brides. This reinforced our commitment to become the leading bridal accessories specialist.

We Moved!

We Moved!

2014
We suffered a major setback with our website, and much data was lost forever. After a swift rebuild, which was still being done in house, we were back on track. The online business recovered and our lovely little shop became too small.

2015
We moved to larger and more visible premises, as both shop sales and online sales continued to boom. We employed a specialist web building company to create a new and more functional website, and an SEO company to increase our visibility.

2016
The new website went live and the online side of the business was transformed. With added retail space, we took on prom dresses to fulfil a local need. With added shoe brands and dealer locator awareness, our pretty boutique was the place to go for weddings and occasions.

2017
We launched our own product presentation boxes and mailers, and began to focus once more on our own photography. Later this year we attended Brides the Show, which was a huge success.

Lockdown...

Lockdown...

2018
Another website refresh, and sales were soaring. Data showed more and more brides were searching for Lace & Favour, and we were living the dream. We had boxes to the ceiling, and again needed more space.

2019
After much searching, we discovered the perfect new premises for Lace & Favour right on our doorstep. Moving was a mission, but we now have a business unit, a flagship showroom, and even more room to grow.

2020
The year of lockdown, and time to reflect on our journey to date. We remain a family owned and operated business with tremendous energy and passion for perfection. We hope you enjoy our brand new website, take five, and that your shopping experience for all your bridal accessories will be the pleasure you deserve.
