Handle With Care

Before the big day, it’s advisable to keep your satin shoes tucked away in their box to ensure they don’t get damaged. Satin is very delicate and can be damaged easily, so keep them away from pets and children especially who might not understand how important they are.

If you want to keep your satin shoes pristine after your wedding day, keep the box and store them in there, wrapped in tissue paper or in a dustbag if you can. This will stop them from becoming scuffed, dirty or dusty.

Apply A Waterproofing Treatment

There are a number of waterproofing sprays available that are suitable for use on satin, and we recommend you apply one to protect your satin shoes. Just be sure to thoroughly read the label and instructions to be sure they are suitable for the type of satin your shoes are made from.

These sprays form a protective layer which prevents water from penetrating the satin and leaving a stain.

Keep Them Dry

As far as possible, we would recommend keeping your satin shoes dry. But this isn’t always possible. In the event that your satin shoes do get wet, don’t leave them to air dry. Doing this will most likely leave your shoes ruined by unsightly stains.

Instead, as soon as you can take them off and dry thoroughly, first by using a cotton ball to soak off excess water then using a hairdryer (or something similar) to completely dry them. Be sure not to use anything coloured to rub satin shoes dry as the dye can transfer!
