Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Venue

It can be easy to fall head over heels for a particular venue without considering practicalities such as capacity, location and even catering. To help you with you to get started, here are some handy tips which will hopefully help you to narrow down your choices:

1. Establish Your Style
Before you start searching for venues, decide what style of wedding you want. Do you want an outdoor garden setting or a historic manor house for a more decadent occasion? Do you prefer a traditional church ceremony or something more modern? Establishing your vision early in the process will help you to narrow down your search.

2. Set Your Budget
It’s so important to decide exactly how much money you can allocate to your venue. Once you have established a budget, look for a venue which will give you the best value for money – even if this means compromising on some minor details.

3. Plan Your Guest list
Your guest list should be taken into consideration when picking your wedding venue. The size of your wedding will have a large impact on the type of venue you choose and you'll want to ensure the space can accommodate all your guests comfortably.

4. Check Availability
Before you fall in love with a particular venue, make sure it is available on your chosen wedding date. Here you’ll also need to think about what time of year you’d like to get married. Have you always dreamed of an outdoor spring or summer wedding with clear skies and sunshine? Or would you prefer a more autumnal day with a rustic look and feel? Perhaps you’re a cosy winter bride at heart! Whatever the season, it’s important to ensure that your venue of choice has availability well in advance.

Often prices during high seasons are higher due to the high demand (May to September) so choosing a date and checking availability is hugely important.

5. Consider the Facilities
It’s also important to think carefully about the facilities available at your chosen venue. Will you need caterers? Does the venue have onsite accommodation? Does the venue include entertainment options with your booking? Checking these details beforehand will save you from running into any last minute problems.

6. Ask Plenty of Questions!
Finally, don't be afraid to ask questions! Having a good understanding of what the venue can provide will help ensure you get the most out of your space and will also help to ensure that your day runs as smoothly as possible from start to finish.
